Keauhou Bay is a historic area in the
Kona District of the Big Island of Hawaiʻi.
The name comes from ke au hou which
means "the new era" in the Hawaiian
Language.

The Keauhou Harbor Resort area
includes the Sheraton Kona Resort &
Spa at Keauhou Bay, the 22.9-acre,
Keauhou Shopping Center, two golf
courses, timeshare, residential and
resort condominiums.

The largest convention center in Kona is
located at the Sheraton, just South of the
bay. The 2,400 acres of the resort are
owned by a subsidiary of Kamehameha
Schools[8] which sponsors cultural
events at the facilities.

There is a small boat ramp, used for
some trips to Kealakekua Bay, and the
Keauhou Canoe Club for canoe races.

YACHT CLUBS OF HAWAII

Follow the voyage around the world of the Hōkūle‘a. Since the 1976 voyage to Tahiti and back, Hōkūle‘a has completed nine voyages to Micronesia, Polynesia, Japan, Canada, and the United States, all using ancient wayfinding techniques of celestial navigation.

On May 18, 2014, Hōkūle‘a and her sister vessel, Hikianalia embarked from Oahu for "Malama Honua", a three-year circumnavigation of the earth. The journey will cover 47,000 nautical miles with stops at 85 ports in 26 different countries

When not on a voyage, Hōkūle‘a is moored at the Marine Education Training Center (METC) of Honolulu Community College at Sand Island in Honolulu Harbor. Learn about the Polynesian Voyaging Society here.
